Swiss kitchenware brand Zyliss has been presented with the coveted Red Dot design award for its newly launched Swift Dry Salad Spinner.
DKB Household UK, which distributes the product in the UK, said: ‘Packed with new features to improve the performance and efficiency of a perennial favourite, the Swift Dry Salad Spinner is the most efficient salad spinner on the market today, removing 25% more water than its competitors.’
Operated by a single press of the one-touch lever, the basket starts to rotate whilst drawing air in through the lid. The user stops the basket rotating by pressing the break button, and the handle is locked and stored flat for convenience. Once the leaves are dry, the bowl can be used to serve salad at the table.
The design of the basket increases the air flow via additional angled water vents. It is shaped to purposefully disrupt the leaves as the basket spins, increasing the flow of air through the basket, assisting the drying process.
Available in two sizes, the spinner is supported by a full suite of point-of-sale material and an ongoing digital marketing campaign.

“But all has been achieved in the final Swift Dry product. Thus to win a Red Dot Award for our combined efforts is a fantastic acknowledgement, and the icing on the cake. This a great accolade from an international panel of senior design professionals. The award recognises the high quality of the product design and the value-added innovation within.”
Red Dot is an international design competition and the accolade of the Red Dot Design Award is an internationally recognised quality label for excellent design.
