Wilko warns of purchasing scam

High street chain Wilko Retail (formerly Wilkinson Hardware Stores) has been made aware that its name is being used fraudulently as part of a purchasing scam.

The scam, to obtain high value goods on an urgent basis for collection, uses fake documents with the Wilko brand and fake bank information.

If you do not have an ongoing supply arrangement with Wilko – and you receive an unusual request for urgent high value goods – do not continue with the transaction without contacting the retailer’s purchasing hotline on 08000 329 329.

The matter has been reported to the UK National Fraud Intelligence Bureau and Wilko advises reporting any information directly to the Bureau online using the Action Fraud website at: www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling direct on 0161 234 9230
