Wilkinson expands in north and south

Housewares chain Wilkinson opened a new store at The Galleries Shopping Centre in Washington, Tyneside, on May 24. It will shortly be joined by a branch at Falmouth in Devon on June 21.
New stores already opened this year include Devizes, Wiltshire in March; Bicester, Oxfordshire in February; and Bolton in Lancashire and Bromley in Kent, which both opened on the same day: January 19.

Wilkinson says it has “huge ambitions for the future,” and is looking to expand from 350 stores to 500 by 2014. It is seeking prime or strong secondary locations with good proximity to car parks and public transport links, with a minimum 10,000sq ft floorplate, in “major cities, strong towns/suburbs or smaller towns with significant catchment population”.

Priority locations are within the M25, south-east, south-west and Scotland.
