John Lewis & Partners’ total sales were up 10.1% last week (to Saturday April 20).
The department store group’s trading director Simon Coble said: “Customers enjoyed shopping Easter promotions earlier in the week. However, the record-breaking warm weather over the weekend impacted sales, when compared to the same Easter weekend last year.
“Home sales were up 11.6%. Sales of tabletop products were up 20.4% and gifts and candles were up 25% as customers prepared their homes for Easter celebrations.
“Electrical and home technology sales were up 10.2%. Warm weather saw sales of fans up 310% as customers invested in products to cool their homes.
“Fashion sales were up 9.3%. Own-brand clothing ranges Kin and Modern Rarity saw sales up 23% and 22% respectively. And John Lewis & Partners shops with Style Studios saw sales up 31% as customers looked to refresh their wardrobes for the summer season.”
