Waitrose taps into trending ingredients

Waitrose launches the World Deli range of 50 new products this month.
Taking inspiration from key food trends, including several highlighted in the ‘2016 Waitrose Food and Drink Report’, the range is described as ‘full of light and vibrant dishes’.
The supermarket chain has introduced new world ingredients and flavours including a spicy Korean condiment called gochujang and a Hawaiian fish dish called poke.
The retailer said: ‘The products can be matched together to create colourful sharing plates. From pastries to frittatas, antipasti to seafood, there is a world of flavours to explore, with the range featuring cuisines from Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Caribbean, Peru and Greece’.
Waitrose product developer Kate Kind commented: “The new World Deli range combines the best flavours from a huge range of international cuisines in small, shareable dishes.
“We’ve picked trending ingredients like gochujang, poke and aguachile, and innovative cooking techniques like charring and pickling, to create as much flavour as possible.
“Designed to be mixed up, served straight to the table and shared at dinner parties and gatherings, we can’t wait to see what customers think of these new dishes.”
