Total sales excluding fuel were up 0.5% at Waitrose & Partners last week (to Saturday July 13) compared with the same week last year.
The supermarket chain’s customer director Martin George said: “Our range of Scrumptious Summer products are proving popular with customers, with classic British flavours and products such as meringues being a firm favourite.
“Mediterranean-inspired food also continued to do well, with fish being a star performer over the last week with shellfish sales up 24%.
“Wines also had a strong week – up 5% – as our ‘25% off six bottles’ offer started on Wednesday and continues through into this week, capitalising on the great sporting moments over the weekend.”
