Waitrose predicts Heston’s Christmas pudding will be a sell-out

Waitrose expects to see a ‘buzz’ across its branches as the arrival of a new Christmas pudding from acclaimed chef Heston Blumenthal arrives on its shelves.

The supermarket chain said Heston has once again ‘worked his magic’ on the classic festive staple.

Apricots, pomegranate liqueur, pistachios, caramelised orange and Middle Eastern spices are packed into the Heston From Waitrose Persian Christmas Pudding (£14/800g), which is filled with a fragrant honey and rose butter centre and finished with copper glitter.

Available to buy now, Waitrose predicts that the limited edition pudding will be a sell-out, similar to the popularity of the Hidden Orange Christmas Pudding which was launched six years ago (and will also be available this season).

The Hidden Orange Christmas Pudding has featured on eBay every Christmas to be auctioned off, due to the demand for the limited pudding. Waitrose said the new Persian Christmas Pudding is expected to follow suit.

In 2010, Six years ago, the chef teamed up with Waitrose to create a host of products. The Persian Christmas Pudding is part of a new range for the Heston From Waitrose collection which now includes nearly 60 products.

Quirky illustrations on the packaging feature fun anthropomorphic characters – animals impeccably dressed in human clothing – who embody the whimsy of the Heston from Waitrose range – from a pig in pearls on the bacon rasher pack, to a family of cows on the new ice cream tubs.

Heston said: “My new Persian inspired Christmas pudding is certainly set to excite taste buds this Christmas. Making sure thorough taste tests were carried out, it certainly has a magical twist using the very best of Middle Eastern spices, which lend themselves to that distinctive Christmas taste.”
