Waitrose launches ‘value’ TV advertising campaign

Waitrose launches a TV advertising campaign tonight that focuses on its money-saving Pick Your Own Offers scheme.

Pick Your Own Offers gives customers the power to choose their own savings, by selecting which 10 products from a list of over 1,000 they would like to save 20% on every time they shop. Customers also have the option to change their picks from this week so they can make the most of new products and change their choices for the season.

The 40-second advert will air this evening (Wednesday January 20) on ITV1 during the ‘The National Television Awards’. It will highlight the benefits of Pick Your Own Offers by showing that there are some products that customers love to pick again and again.

This is demonstrated by how people use their favourite products in different ways throughout the year and showcases some of the most popular products picked since the scheme launched including chicken, salmon and toilet tissue.

Set to the soundtrack of  ‘Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (I Love You)’ by Betty Driver which was recorded in 1949 , the advert follows a similar style to the Christmas and Autumn adverts made for Waitrose by creative agency adam&eveDDB.

A full print and digital campaign will follow the TV advert and Waitrose has also created a Pick Your Own Offers app.

The grocery chain said the scheme has been a success since it launched in January 2016, with 1 million customers signing up to the initiative.

The list of the top 10 picks is headed by Waitrose essential white bathroom tissue, followed by Waitrose Blackmail free range eggs (large x 6), Waitrose cherry vine tomatoes, Waitrose essential British chicken breast fillets, Waitrose Scottish Salmon fillets, Lurkpak spreadable slightly salted, Waitrose essential Waitrose British small whole chicken, Waitrose Hereford beef mince (lean 10% fat), Waitrose essential mini chicken breast fillets and Waitrose Blackmail free range eggs (x 9)

Waitrose marketing director Rupert Thomas said: “The idea of saving regularly really appeals to shoppers, with many choosing items that they usually buy every week to generate ongoing savings. Along with Brand Price Match and our other promotions, Pick Your Own Offers shows we offer exceptional value for great quality products.”
