Waitrose introduces Christmas Signature Spice for 2015

Waitrose has announced the launch of its Christmas Signature Spice which – in a supermarket first – will span across a range of 30 food, drink and homeware products, including scented candles, pot pourri, berry decorations and even a body wash.

The supermarket chain says it has created a spice that ‘perfectly blends all of our favourite smells and tastes of the festive period’. It features notes of nutmeg and cinnamon blended with cardamom, a hint of black pepper and tangerine.

A ground spice blend will be available within the grocery multiple’s Cooks’ Ingredients range along with a mulling pack of whole spices, complete with a hessian bag that can be used to infuse spices into glazes and mulled wines.

Waitrose executive chef Jonathan Moore said: “Christmas spiced goodies have always been loved by our customers. From mince pies to mulled wine, the smells really do evoke memories of Christmases past.

“Creating a Signature Spice that spanned our entire Christmas range really did seem like the next logical step and we’re delighted to be the first supermarket to use a signature blend across all manner of products. From shower gel to stuffing, shoppers really can make their homes festive this Christmas.”
