Waitrose gives Christmas panettone an Easter makeover

Waitrose launched a panettone Easter egg in-store and online yesterday (Monday March 12).

The supermarket chain has given the Italian sweet bread loaf a makeover for Easter. Designed to look like an Easter egg, the chocolate-chip-laden loaf is egg-shaped and sprinkled with pastel sugar confetti. It is made using a traditional sourdough recipe, which is combined with butter and chocolate

Waitrose product developer Stuart Owens said: “Panettone is a popular choice with our customers and we want to offer them the chance to enjoy it outside the festive period. So we’re really excited to be able to introduce this as part of our seasonal range.”

The new Waitrose Panettone Easter Egg is priced at £10 (600g).
