V&A and Select Brands excel in LIMA International Licensing Awards

The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) held its annual International Licensing Awards ceremony in Las Vegas last Tuesday (May 23).

Overall, winners in 20 categories were announced, including the UK’s Victoria and Albert Museum and US housewares company Select Brands.

LIMA president Charles Riotto said: “This year’s winners represent world-class licensing programmes and products from around our global industry.

“We are proud to recognise and honour the achievements of these companies – chosen from a record 461 submissions [narrowed down to a final 126 nominees] – for their impressive initiatives and outstanding results.”

LIMA is a trade organisation for the global licensing industry. Its mission is to foster the growth and expansion of licensing around the world, raise the level of professionalism for licensing practitioners, and create greater awareness of the benefits of licensing to the business community at large.

Art/Design: V&A – Victoria and Albert Museum

For the third time, the Victoria and Albert Museum was voted Best Art and Design Brand. Its licensing categories include homeware, apparel, jewellery, accessories, stationery, fabric and gifts from 75 licensees worldwide, in Europe, USA, Australia, Japan, China and South Korea.

Highlights of 2016 included tabletop ranges from Creative Tops; the V&A Oasis clothing range, based around Asian decorative ceramics and kimono patterns; a new V&A 60s/70s shoe collection with footwear brand Clarks; a luxury collaboration with Napa Valley vineyard, Darioush; and the launch of a paper product range with US licensee Caspari.
