The finalists in the 2013 US Housewares Design Awards have now been named, five product finalists in each of 12 categories having been selected from nearly 300 entries.

The 12 Best in Category winners will be announced during a Housewares Design Awards presentation ceremony and lunch in New York on January 29. In addition, a trio of Best of the Best winners– Gold, Silver and Bronze awards– will be named from the Best in Category winners.

The finalists were chosen on design, aesthetics, innovative materials and technology, user benefits and marketability. Products judged had to have been introduced to the market between October 1 2011 and September 30 2012.

The finalists in the Cookware & Bakeware category are: Calphalon AcCuCore 10-piece set; Cristel L Removable Handle collection; Kuhn Rikon PushPan; Nambé Chirp kettle; and Swiss Diamond non-stick 10.25in crepe pan.

In the Countertop Cooking & Beverage Appliances category: Jarden Consumer Solutions Crock-Pot Lunch Crock food warmer; Jura Capresso Jura ENA Micro 9 One Touch cappuccino machine; Jura Capresso Capresso teaC100 tea maker; Krups EA82 Espressaria Full Automatic espresso and coffee machine; and KitchenAid ProLine two-slice toaster.

In the Countertop Food Prep Appliances category: Beaba BabyCook Pro2X baby food maker and Pro baby food maker; Bodum Bistro stand mixer; Calphalon XL blender; and Smith’s Consumer Products Edgeware Angle Adjust electric knife sharpener.

In the Countertop Kitchenware category: Escali Scales Taso mixing bowl scale; Joseph Joseph Triscale kitchen scale; Pollen Design Prepara Dry Dock dish mat; Silikomart Coverflex flexible universal lid; and Simple Wave Calibowl non-spill, five-piece Iconic mixing bowl set.

In the Cutlery & Cutting Tools category: Calphalon Precision Series cutlery; DKB Household FastCut Herb Tool; Kyocera Advanced Ceramics cutlery Series 6; OXO 3-in-1 avocado slicer; and World Kitchen Chicago Cutlery DesignPro knife set.

In the Gadgets & Kitchen Tools category: Smith’s Consumer Products Better Zester; Lifetime Brands Savora Garlic Press; OXO International Twisting Tea Ball; Roland Products Drosselmeyer Caretta shellfish pliers; Swissmar Swiss Curve peeler.

In the Home Organization, Laundry Care & Non-Electric Cleaning category: Casabella Quick Scrub double sided microfiber spray mop; F&M Tool and Plastics Bella Storage Solution 70-Quart underbed locking hinged lid w/360° swivel wheel; Leifheit Linomatic 400 Deluxe retractable clothes line; OXO Compact dustpan and brush set; and Simplehuman Semi-Round Sensor Can.

Other categories were Floor Care & Cleaning Appliances, Home & Outdoor Décor, Home Environment Appliances and Personal, Health & Garment Care.

In addition, the 2013 Green House Award finalists are: Alfay Designs Mighty Mug; Blueair Sense Air Cleaner; Component Design Northwest Solar Thermometer; Rowenta Eco-Intelligence steam iron; and Simple Wave Calibowl non-spill, five-piece Iconic mixing bowl set.
