UK Sausage Week will run from Monday October 30 until Sunday November 5. The initiative has been designed by ‘Meat Management’ magazine to promote the UK’s sausages in a bid to boost trade this autumn.
‘Meat Management’ publisher Graham Yandell said: “We are looking at some interesting ideas to raise the profile of sausages over the seven day period. Our last day is November 5 [Guy Fawkes Night] and. of course, bangers and Bonfire Night is a perfect fit.”
The week opens with a celebration lunch on October 30 at Plaisterers’ Hall, in London, This event, organised by YPL Exhibitions & Events, will highlight many of the UK’s best sausages with awards for best independent butchers, the best supermarket/multiple retailer of sausages and the best own-brand sausage manufacturer.
Interested sausage-makers can now enter their products for consideration via the form on the event’s new website at www.uksausageweek.com. The products will be put to the test by a team of judges led by Keith Fisher, ceo of The Institute of Meat.
