Inspired by designs developed by the Kennel Club, a new collection will initially launch with two designs: Houndstooth and Patterned Paws. Others are expected to follow later in the year. Houndstooth is a stylised, simplified dog shape which has been turned into a contemporary repeat pattern, while Patterned Paws is based on the use of the classic pet motif in a zig-zag pattern. Both designs will be available in either doormat or ‘feeding station’ mat sizes.

Throughout its 20 years in business, the Turtle Mat Company has always had a strong affiliation with dog owners and already has a number of mat designs to cater for this market.

Speaking of the collaboration, Susan Leaver, commercial director for the company, said: “We are really proud to have been selected to partner with the Kennel Club and launch the collection in what will be a very special year for us.

“Reflecting back to when the company first started out, dog owners were among some of the early adopters of our washable cotton mats. And, for many years, we even used a ‘walking dog’ to demonstrate the robust nature of our products to trade and consumers alike. With such a deep-rooted connection to the dog-owner community, the opportunity to work with the Kennel Club was a natural and timely progression for us. We are absolutely thrilled to be associated with such a world renowned authority on all things canine and are sure it will prove extremely popular with our customers as well.”

Helen Fox, marketing and business development executive for the Kennel Club, added: “The Turtle Mat Company is a welcome addition to our growing portfolio of licensees. The quality of its products coupled with a history and heritage, that is not too dissimilar to our own, makes it a perfect fit with our brand.”
