A key feature of last week’s co-located London trade shows Exclusively Housewares and Exclusively Electrical proved a big hit with visitors, according to the exhibitions’ owner and organiser BHETA (British Home Enhancement Trade Association).
The Exclusively Shows, which took place on June 11 and June 12 at the Business Design Centre in Islington, hosted a Trend Hub area located in the atrium above the Exclusively Electrical hall.
This dedicated space hosted Trend Talks by Phil Pond, who is a director of trend forecasting agency Scarlet Opus, and included Trend Displays created by the Scarlet Opus team, which incorporated a selection of exhibitors’ products that the agency predicts will be big news for the upcoming seasons.
BHETA said: ‘This year, for the first time, the informative Trend Talks ran on both days, and welcomed full audiences. Scarlet Opus talked through interiors trends, providing an insight into what consumers will want next, to help visitors know more about what consumers will want to buy.’
To complement the Trend Talks, the Scarlet Opus team conducted four Trend Tours of the Shows, pointing out items which they recommend as on-trend. The Tours ‘also drew capacity audiences,’ BHETA said.
Phil Pond commented: “More than 500 visitors came to see the Trend features, including teams from several of the country’s biggest housewares and SDA retailers, journalists from the best-known consumer blogs, magazines, newspapers and online publications, and a myriad of independent retailers. We are very proud to be a part of the Exclusively Shows’ phenomenal progress.”
Another attraction was a daily Trend Talk by The Food People, which is a team that specialises in spotting, reporting and predicting food and drink trends. Director Charles Banks talked about the food we will be eating in the next 24 months and discussed how to apply this knowledge to the relevant specialist equipment needed to recreate and serve the cuisines of the future.
The Food People also welcomed many visitors to its own Trend Display in the Trend Hub and invited them to explore its online trends platform and take away a free copy of its 2019-20 trends infographic poster.
The 2020 edition of the Exclusively Shows will be held at the same venue on June 9 and June 10
