Top retailers to speak at world congress

Over 100 leading retail industry executives are expected to speak on core retail issues at the three-day event. Amongst them will be Jose Carlos Gonzales-Hurtado, chief commercial officer at Carrefour, and Matt Brittin, managing director of Google UK & Ireland and a non-executive director of Sainsbury’s.

They will be joined by other senior figures from the likes of Neiman Marcus, Tommy Hilfiger, Gap and Technopak.

Organiser Emap Communications says the agenda will focus on the issues confronting retail boardrooms around the world. Subjects for discussion will include managing today’s economic cycle; delivering growth through focusing on both the hard and the soft strategies; successful international business expansion models; the fast growing retail markets of Brazil, Russia, India and China; multichannel retailing and mobile commerce; sustainability; and the need for shopper insight to build future strategies.

The congress will also see the presentation of the Oracle World Retail Awards.

The World Retail Congress 2011 will take place at the Intercontinental Berlin from September 25 to 28.
