Tom Kerridge demos at ZWILLING event

Housewares supplier ZWILLING J A Henckels invited retailers, chefs and press to experience its concept of the Modern Living Kitchen at Tower Bridge in London on the evening of July 1.

The company said the event was held to present its brands and products ‘holistically’ to show that ‘a knife, kitchen gadget, and piece of cookware, be it Zwilling, Staub or Demeyere, come together to help the home cook or professional chef produce and present an amazing meal’.

There were cookery demonstrations hosted by two-Michelin-star chef Tom Kerridge (who uses ZWILLING, Staub and Demeyere in his restaurants); Nick Beardshaw, head chef at The Coach in Marlow; and School of Wok’s Jeremy Pang, who uses ZWILLING and Demeyere in his cooking school.

ZWILLING’s own chef, Paul Bough, also demonstrated. He is responsible for product training and in-store cookery and knife skills demonstrations for ZWILLING, as well as demonstrating at food festivals and hosting classes in cookery schools.

Paul spends much of his time working with retailers and holding demonstrations to create theatre in store. Examples include branches of Steamer Trading Cookshop, Art of Living in Surrey, Cookmare in Worcester, Upstairs Downstairs in Shropshire and Looses Cookshop in Norwich.

Each chef used ZWILLING knives and cookware, Staub cast iron cookware and Demeyere stainless steel cookware to create their dishes.

In addition, ZWILLING presented product and retail display solutions where guests could try their hand at chopping and sharpening with ZWILLING knives, while enjoying canapés, drinks and the evening view across London.

Zwilling J.A. Henckels (UK) marketing manager Michael Robbins said: “For retailers, the crux of the Modern Living Kitchen is that the ZWILLING brands and product categories complement each other and can be represented and merchandised in one retail space to represent authority, quality and choice – providing a high quality offering to the consumer that meets all food preparation and presentation needs.”

Tom Kerridge added: ‘I’m a huge fan of all Staubware for its multifunction use. It cooks well and is fantastic to serve in. It’s robust too, and lasts a long time. Also, the ZWILLING pans and Demeyere cookware have an exceptional build quality, and conduct heat beautifully and evenly.”
