TK Maxx opens in Walthamstow and relocates in Ipswich

Shopping centre owner Capital & Regional has announced the opening of two anchor TK Maxx stores at The Mall Walthamstow in London and the Buttermarket shopping centre in Ipswich.

The off-price retailer occupies 25,671sq ft over two floors at The Mall Walthamstow in east London. The store opens following the completion of a £3.5 million refurbishment of the centre in 2015.

At Buttermarket in Ipswich, TK Maxx has relocated to a larger 27,000sq ft unit, as Capital & Regional progresses a £35 million redevelopment of the centre.

Capital & Regional acquired Buttermarket in a 50:50 joint venture with Drum Property Group in April 2015, and has since secured planning consent to remodel the centre, which includes a new 12 screen cinema complex, to be operated by Empire, and family dining offer.

Mark Bourgeois, executive director at Capital & Regional, said: “TK Maxx opening at Walthamstow and Buttermarket is hugely significant as it demonstrates that our investment to modernise and enhance our centres is helping us attract high calibre retailers. TK Maxx is an excellent addition to both centres.”

There are over 280 TK Maxx stores in the UK and Ireland
