Tillington chairman retires

Tillington Group of Garden Centres chairman Harry McDermid has retired after 16 years at the helm.

Harry held the post of managing director and shareholder of Findlay Clark Garden Centres in Scotland for many years. Following its purchase by Dobbies, he took over as chairman of Tillington, which is a buying group with 11 independent garden centre members: Alton, Bents, Frosts, Hayes, Otter, Ruxley, Scotsdales, Squire’s, Van Hage, Webbs and Whitehall.

Tillington said: ‘Harry has left the buying group in great shape, having broken through the £200m turnover barrier in 2015’.

The group recently held a dinner to mark Harry’s retirement, where Harry was presented with a reminder of his time with the group by Richard Webb, a founder member.
