The amateur cookery series has been a runaway success since it launched on BBC2 in 2010, picking up 5 milllion viewers for the last series and a 2012 BAFTA award for Features.
The show is described as ‘the ultimate baking battle’ where passionate amateur baking fans compete to be crowned the UK’s Best Amateur Baker. Each week the bakers tackle a different baking skill, which become progressively more difficult as the competition unfolds.
All the challenges are devised by cookery writer Mary Berry and Master Baker Paul Hollywood, who are also on hand to judge and taste their efforts
Comediennes Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins are returning to host the third series. Over the course of six hour-long episodes, the cake-baking, pastry, bread-making and patisserie skills of 12 home cooks will be tested to the limit.
