‘The Great British Bake Off’ returns to our screens on Tuesday (August 20).
The fourth series, which runs for 16 episodes, kicks off on BBC2 at 8pm. And, for the first time, there will be 13 contestants. The Bake Off tent will be packed with the best amateur bakers from around the country, from space engineer to student, teacher to dentist and psychologist to carpenter.
Judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry return, along with presenters Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc.
But, says the BBC, “with 13 bakers, at any time Mary and Paul may decide to lose not one but TWO bakers. This year, nobody is safe…”
The judges have set the Signature Challenges as true home baker staples, so that they can immediately see the bakers’ personalities and their range of skills and ideas, setting them apart from each other.
In the first episode, the contestants attempt to produce sandwich cakes, angel food cake and chocolate creations.
