The Direct Company chalks up 12% growth

The Direct Company has continued its decade-long run of growth with an increase in turnover of over 12% in 2009 – despite trading through the worst year that many businesses can remember.
In the last quarter the increase at the central buying and invoicing subsidiary company of BHF-BSSA Group was over 20%.

Managing director Paul Woolley said that the bulk of the growth had come from members opening more accounts with more suppliers.

And he added: “The encouraging thing about that is that there is plenty of scope for more of the same.”

The company celebrated its success with the launch of a new website,, designed to provide an extra promotional channel between suppliers and members.

The Direct Company has also launched its service to the BSSA members of the new BHF-BSSA Group. Woolley said: “The potential for both members and suppliers is huge.”
