Suppliers braced for losses after Head Cook fails

Insolvency practitioners Parker Andrews have sent suppliers to the Norwich-based company – Crown Supplies Ltd – a letter saying that it has gone into voluntary liquidation.

Head Cook & Bottlewasher used to run a cookshop in North Walsham, Norfolk. More recently, though, it concentrated on ecommerce, offering a complete range of kitchenware and tabletop items from suppliers including Kitchen Craft, Silverwood, Hahn, Falcon, Taylor’s Eye Witness and WMF. Most now seem poised to lose out financially.

At ICTC, managing director Bruce Crane told HousewaresLive.net: “We’ve been dealing with Head Cook a long time. It was apparent last week there was a problem with them.

“I would think most suppliers that deal with Head Cook will suffer a little bit depending on their exposure.”

At Kuhn Rikon, which also supplied the company, director John Margetts said: “My experience tells me always to be pessimistic. We’re in for about £1,600 with VAT. But because [Head Cook & Bottlewasher] pay through the BHF we may be covered through some insurance policy – that might mitigate our loss.”

The website appears to be still operational, although a message on the helpline says it is closed. No one at Parker Andrews was available for comment.
