Stoke plans world-class ceramics festival

Stoke-on-Trent is hoping to develop its Ceramic and Design Festival to become an international event.
The festival was started in 2004 and last year attracted some 10,000 tourists to the city. Now, organisers want to extend the event from two days to a week and are hoping to secure £200,000 of funding to support their plans. They are also in the process of appointing a festival director who will be able to create a world-class programme of events.

The city wants the festival to run every other year. The next one is expected to take place in October 2009.
