Squire’s Garden Centres is holding a 24-hour ‘Plant-athon’ to raise money for the charity Greenfingers.
The family-owned garden centre group, with 15 centres across West London, Surrey, Berkshire and Sussex, will be planting day and night to raise funds for Greenfingers, which creates inspiring gardens for children and their families to relax in and enjoy at hospices around the UK.
The event starts next Thursday (March 17) at 2pm at Squire’s in Badshot Lea, and then moves to Squire’s in Twickenham overnight, finishing on Friday March 18 at 2pm.
Customers can come along to watch, get hints and tips, ask gardening questions, and even roll up their sleeves and get involved. Specially planted-up Spring pots from the Plant-athon will be sold, with 20% from each sale donated to Greenfingers.
Squire’s managing director Dennis Espley is leading the Plant-athon and will be planting day and night.
He will be joined by several special guests. At Badshot Lea, pupils from the Badshot Lea Village Infant School will part. At Squire’s Twickenham, Dennis will be accompanied by Andy McIndoe, one of the UK’s leading horticulturists, with a record 25 gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and Andrew Gill, president of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture.
