Bishops Home Hardware of Forest Row, East Sussex is celebrating the news that it has won first prize in this year’s Home Hardware Christmas window dressing competition.

'Spirit of Christmas' window wins for Bishops

The store’s managing director Claire Bourne was awarded £100 in vouchers, while Lennie Watson of Watson Home Hardware in Sutton-on-Sea, Lincolnshire, took the second prize of £50 in vouchers.

The independent panel of judges took into account window content, layout, use of props, use of point-of-sale material, lighting and overall maintenance of displays.

“Our team set out to create a display that encompasses the traditions of Christmas, within a small rural village,” Bourne explained. “At the heart of the display was Christmas and what it means to our customers and their families. We wanted to retain the spirit of Christmas and at the same time advertise to our customers of all ages our very wide range of Christmas gifts and everyday household goods. This was a real team effort with everyone giving their ideas.”

All Home Hardware retailers were invited to participate in the competition.
