Three internationally known housewares suppliers have won gia (Global Innovation Awards) honours for product innovation at the 2015 International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago.
The trio of Global Honorees for the Best Product Design are Eva Solo for Digital Kitchen Scale, Joseph Joseph for Can-Do Can Opener and Parallax Horizon For Scoop THAT!!
The finalists are Alessi USA for Cheese Please, Big Dragon Studios for TurbineUSA Pizza Cutter, David Rasmussen Design for Wud Tumbler, Dreamfarm for SAVEL and PO: Select for Pao Thermo Mug.
Three companies were also given plaudits for the 2015 Best Collection Design. The Global Honoree is Heat THAT!! by Parallax Horizon and the two finalists are Ruutu by iittala and Steamer Collection by JIA Inc.
The winners were selected by a panel of design experts who judged the products on inspired design quality, brand positioning, outstanding craftsmanship, exclusive market focus and design-focused sustainability.
Phil Brandl, president/CEO of the International Housewares Association, which owns and operates the International Home + Housewares Show and sponsors the gia programme, said: “We’re pleased to have these companies, who extend the limits of the design spectrum, exhibiting at the Show.”
The four-day International Home + Housewares Show, which ends today (March 10), is taking place at Chicago’s McCormick Place. It features more than 2,100 exhibitors and 60,000 total attendees from around the globe.
The awards were announced at the invitation-only gia dinner on Sunday evening. The products are on display in the Discover Design Gallery, Booth S3283 in the South Building.
