Simplehuman is helping raise money for a hospital by sponsoring a team of REME soldiers and civilian volunteers to complete the Snowdonia Mountain Marathon.

Simplehuman backs hospital fund raisers

Their efforts will help fund the Royal Berkshire Hospital’s Robbie the Robot, which allows surgeons to perform radical keyhole surgery on various forms of cancer.

Only three NHS hospitals in the south of England have this facility, and the Royal Berkshire Hospital hopes to become the national centre of excellence in its use. However, the NHS will not fund the equipment unless £1m is raised over the next two years.

The Robbie the Robot appeal aims to raise this money through events like the Snowdonia Mountain Marathon – a 26-mile climb/walk which took place in September. The REME team was one of 12 teams that took part in the event, which raised over £75,000.
