Signed football helmet for Village Candle’s Paul

Paul Aldrich, president of US candle manufacturer Village Candle, delayed his visit to the Spring Fair to watch the Super Bowl final.

Held on Sunday (February 5), the Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the US National Football League. Paul is a big fan of the New England Patris, who made it to the final and won a clash with Atlanta Falcons.

Director Tom Sykes and UK sales manager Des Docherty of Xystos – Village Candle’s UK and Ireland distributor – each placed a £30 bet on the New England Patriots to win.

And while Tom and Des won’t be able to retire on the proceeds, they repaid Paul’s faith in his team by presenting him with a New England Patriots’ football helmet – bought from Football America UK on a neighbouring Spring Fair stand – and signed by themselves, Xystos managing director David Lewis and the rest of the Xystos team.

Paul commented: “I told the guys that I was going to be delayed coming over to the show as the Patriots had made it to the Super Bowl final – and I advised them to put a bet on my team. I’m pleased that they did.

“I watched the match on TV, but myself and my wife Sally (president of ecommerce for Village Candle) were a little nervous about the outcome.

“It was extremely thoughtful of the Xystos team to buy the helmet and sign it, and as Patriot fans we are both delighted and will treasure it.

“I always try to back winning teams and this has confirmed my belief that Xystos is not only a professional company but a caring one, too.”

Xystos is in (Hall 4 H50-J51) of the Spring Fair, which closes today (Thursday February 9) following a five-day run at the NEC in Birmingham.
