The department store group will host a a series of exclusive Mexican dinners in The Corner Restaurant and Champagne Bar at its flagship branch on London’s Oxford Street, cooked up by a host of leading Mexican chefs.

The Food Hall will entertain a number of food happenings, including a pop-up kitchen with a schedule of Mexican producers and chefs showcasing how to make authentic Mexican dishes; a pop-up ‘Taqueria’ stall serving tacos and guacamole variations; and a Mexican ‘chilli wall’ exhibiting Mexico’s vast range of chillies used in cooking. Mexican chefs will also be on hand to discuss the use of chilli in traditional Mexican cooking.

For those customers wanting to re-create traditional Mexican dishes at home, more than 80 new Mexican brands have been introduced to the Food Hall including Terana Spices, and chilli brands Cool Chili and Azrec Cactus.

The Wine shop will be holding a number of Mexican-inspired free tastings with 10 different tequila and Mezcal producers. Selfridges will also be hosting cocktail masterclasses in Harry Gordon’s Bar where customers can learn from master mixologist Tomas Estes. Each evening will be focused on a different spirit.

Selfridges food and restaurants director Nathan Herrmann commented: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Mexican Tourist Board in order to bring the exciting Mexican food scene to London. We hope to illustrate to our customers the breadth of range that this spectacular country has to offer, through a robust calendar of events and demos.”
