Selfridges launches homeware collections to mark London Design Festival

In celebration of London Design Festival (LDF) 2016, department store group Selfridges will launch an array of exclusive collections from prominent British homeware designers.

Running from last Saturday (September 17) to September 25, the 13th edition of LDF is an annual event held to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world, with hundreds of design events taking place across London.

Selfridges home buyer Geraldine James said: “LDF is an amazing opportunity for the best of the design world to showcase their work and ideas in this unique city.

“This year at Selfridges, we’re excited to be introducing exclusive collections from three of the most renowned British designers of our time: Tom Dixon, Faye Toogood and Zaha Hadid.

“The festival gives the public a chance to experience the latest designs and concepts from the industry, and here at Selfridges we strive to create a destination where customers can find their ultimate design piece for the home.”

Zaha Hadid will launch her first home accessories line, ‘Collection 2016’, at Selfridges. In a diversity of materials, from bone china to modern resins, the collection includes candles, diffusers, vases and diningware.

Tom Dixon’s ‘Materialism’ collection will be showcased in Selfridges new fragrance and candle’s department during LDF. It includes four small vessels, each with a distinctive scent. Encased in glass, stone, metal and marble, the gift set is complemented by a wider range of candles and diffusers.

Faye Toogood will unveil ‘Charcoal Storm’: her latest range in ceramic design, which ‘celebrates the irregular patterns and beauty of natural imperfections’. It aims to reinterpret traditional English creamware with a motif that draws upon the chance patterns created when pigment added to the slip coating does not fully blend. The dark whorls and eddies resulting from these experiments make up the collection’s central motifs, appearing on pieces including jugs, plates, bowls and cups.

Faye  commented: “I’m particularly excited to be bringing this collection to Selfridges. It feels like a perfect fit for the store’s distinctive blend of classic British pieces and forward-thinking international design.”

Faye Toogood’s ‘Charcoal Storm’ range, which retails at £12.95-£39.95, is exclusive to Selfridges.
