Scott Brothers receives national recognition

Investors in People has recognised housewares supplier Scott Brothers as an employer that excels in valuing and rewarding staff.

Investors in People is a standard for people management, offering accreditation to organisations that adhere to the Investors in People Standard. The aim of Investors in People is to ensure people in the business understand their role and purpose within the company, but more importantly, also feel valued within the organisation.

To gain the recognition, Scott Brothers was assessed and given a number of recommendations on how to improve its current processes. These changes, which were implemented over six months, included having an appraisal process in place across the workforce and setting up a rewards and recognition policy.

Scott Brothers managing director Duncan Pratt-Thompson said: “We’re pleased our hard work in making sure our staff are looked after has been recognised and we’ve passed our Investors in People assessment. This is great news and it has really shown a positive team spirit running through the business.

“One of the initiatives that we now have in place is recognising fellow teammates who have gone above and beyond during each quarter. The winner is decided by the team in a democratic process and not decided by management.”

Duncan added: “The whole process with Investors in People has been beneficial for the entire business and all our staff. We also had feedback from the assessor stating that he sensed a real positive team spirit within the organisation, which we were thrilled to hear.”

The news of passing the Investors in People assessment came shortly after Scott Brothers achieved its ISO9001 certification.  The company bills itself as the market leader for Packmate vacuum storage bags as well as Honeywell evaporative air coolers.
