J Sainsbury plc has commented on the statement made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer yesterday (Tuesday March 17) which included the news that the government will be “giving all retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in England a 100% business rates holiday for the next 12 months”.
The supermarket chain said: ‘We welcome the support for these businesses and we are awaiting further clarification on the details of this change. J Sainsbury plc paid UK business rates of £567 million the financial year to 9 March 2019, of which c.£500 million related to stores.’
