Four products from Sage by Heston Blumenthal – the Oracle Espresso Machine, Quick Touch Microwave, Smart Toaster and Smart Waffle Maker – have been honoured in the prestigious Global Red Dot design awards.
Held annually in Germany since 1954, the Red Dot competition offers product makers the chance to put their products in front of a panel of leading designers and industry experts. An international jury rewards projects that set themselves apart significantly thanks to their excellent design. This year there were more than 1,800 entries from 53 countries.
Sages Appliances managing director Tim Hossack said: “We hear directly from consumers that they love our products, through online reviews and direct communications. However, it’s gratifying to receive independent, expert validation of the products’ excellence in design. We now have 10 Red Dot Awards across the company. It’s an aspect of the business that we’re very proud of and one we constantly invest in. We have a team of over 60 designers and engineers in our Sydney head office and it’s a tribute to them.”
This new addition adds to an impressive awards cabinet for the kitchen appliance brand, which is part of the Australian-based Breville Group. Last year, the Multi-Cooker was honoured in the Australian Design Awards. The Tea Maker has been victorious in the House & Garden Style Awards, while the Kitchen Wizz Food Processor and Kinetix Control Blender received IDSA Design Awards in the USA.
