Royal Worcester looks for cash boost with clearance sales

Shops around the UK are holding clearance sales of merchandise following the collapse of Royal Worcester & Spode into administration.
Outlets in Peterborough, Northampton, Cardiff. Edinburgh, Solihull, Birmingham, Worcester and Wolverhampton are reported to be amongst shops selling off the troubled company’s china and giftware.

Royal Worcester & Spode went into administration on November 6, hit by the economic downturn and the failure to sell its site in Stoke on Trent.

Administrator Pricewaterhouse Coopers said it hoped that the clearance sales, at 16 shops around the country, would increase visitors to the shops and revenue. It is still seeking a buyer for the company.
