River Oliver makes TV debut on dad Jamie’s C4 Christmas show

Four-month-old River Oliver is to make his TV debut alongside his family in Jamie Oliver’s new Christmas TV show.

‘Jamie’s Ultimate Christmas’, which airs on Channel 4 on Monday (December 19) at 8pm, will feature baby River alongside Jamie, his wife Jools, and their other children Poppy (14), Daisy (13), Petal (7) and Buddy (6), as well as grandparents Trevor and Sally and other members of the Oliver clan.

The family is seen enjoying Christmas food, playing games and telling jokes.

The programme centres on Jamie cooking his ‘ultimate Christmas’ recipes – the ones he will serve his family on the big day this year.

There will be recipes for what Jamie calls ‘the three foundations of Christmas’: turkey, gravy and roast potatoes.

He reckons that your guests will forgive you any mistakes as long as the turkey’s succulent, the gravy’s tasty, and the spuds are perfect. Jamie’s serving it with Brussels sprouts with chorizo and chestnuts.

As a canape or starter, he shows viewers how to cure their own Gravadlax, steeped in a beetroot, horseradish and vodka marinade.

And for the end of the meal, Jamie suggests an alternative to traditional Christmas pudding: ‘super-gooey’ chocolate pots.

Jamie will also serve up a Boxing Day leftovers recipe of turkey risotto. He makes cocktails and a classic Beef Wellington too.

A book to accompany the programme – ‘Jamie Oliver’s Christmas Cookbook’ – is published by Michael Joseph/Penguin.
