RDT offers emergency winter fuel payment

Industry charity the Rainy Day Trust (RDT) has just announced a new emergency winter fuel payment offer of £50 towards heating costs, because of the forecast cold weather.

RDT chief executive officer Bryan Clover said: “If you know of someone from the home improvement industry who is struggling financially, then please point them to this new emergency payment.

“It is a one-page form to complete and submit, and we will turn around applications very quickly.

“To qualify, they must have a household income of less than £16,000 per annum, less than £10,000 in savings, and they or their partner must have worked within the DIY, builders merchant, hardware or housewares industries for at least three years (not necessarily concurrently or for one organisation).

“All applications are completely confidential. If our criteria is met, we can help with a one-off payment of £50 made direct to their utility supplier.”
