The race, which takes place on April 28, covers a 26.2 mile route through the heart of the capital.
Ralph explained: “I had blood cancer 10 years ago and after getting the all clear five years ago, I decided to do a half-marathon in aid of Bloodwise [a charity, formerly known as Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research that funds research into all types of blood cancer]. This got me into running so I joined the local running club and started doing10k runs.
“An opportunity arose to enter the London Marathon. I foolishly applied – and my name was pulled out of the hat. After 10 years cancer-free I thought, ‘why not try to raise more money again for Bloodwise?’ This cancer affects lots of young children with leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and sportsmen like Aston Villa’s Stiliyan Petrov, Wolves star Carl Ikeme and many others. Without [the charity’s] research and the fantastic Dr O’Connor and nurses at Shrewsbury hospital, I and a lot of other people might not be here.
“It would be great if the housewares Industry could help support this charity by donating to My Just Giving page at
