Rainy Day Trust boss comments on coronavirus

Bryan Clover, ceo of industry charity the Rainy Day Trust, has issued the following statement on the outbreak of coronavirus in China and its impact on the UK’s home improvement sector:

He commented: “One of the consequences of the shutdown of a lot of China’s manufacturing sector is the supply of both raw materials and products to the UK markets. This in turn will impact on the industry’s ability to meet customer demand and could affect staff hours and employment.

“If your business starts to feel the impact of the virus, even if it is short-term, and you feel that you need to review your workforce, please involve us from the very start as we can help with many of the issues that you may encounter.

“We can support both you and your staff. Of course, any contact with us will remain completely confidential, but we would prefer to get involved early and so have a preventative effect rather than a curative one. As always, we are here to help.”

The Rainy Day Trust is the only charity which exists solely to help people who have worked in the UK’s home improvement industry
