ProCook volunteers join Life’s a Beach Charity for Beach Clean

Employees from UK kitchenware brand ProCook joined Life’s a Beach charity and Printwaste to clean up waste from the beach at popular seaside destination Weston-Super-Mare following a long and sunny summer of activity.

From vehicle parts to teddy bears and everything in between, the team of 22 ProCook volunteers and three Printwaste volunteers collected a grand total of 80kg of litter from the beach. Colleagues came from ProCook’s headquarters and stores based in the South West.

Working with Printwaste, the 80kg was sent to a Waste-to-Energy plant to be converted into electricity and in total, will produce enough energy to make 4,000 cups of tea or coffee.

Life’s a Beach, the charity set up by ProCook’s Founder and CEO Daniel O’Neill, supports the eradication of single use plastics from British beaches and waterways, aims to educate younger generations about plastic pollution through school outreach, and promotes the use of reusable products.

Life’s a Beach Events and Engagement Co-Ordinator Sophie Chappell said:

‘I am so grateful to the wonderful volunteers from both ProCook and Printwaste. Working together we managed to clean up an amazing amount of rubbish from the beach, preventing it from being washed back out to sea. It is events like this that not only make our beaches cleaner for everyone but our oceans cleaner also.’

ProCook CEO and Founder of ProCook Daniel O’Neill said:

‘It was a privilege to join Life’s a Beach and Printwaste for a fantastic beach clean up. All of us at ProCook are allocated a Good Cause Day each year and it’s great that some of our team chose to use theirs to support Life’s a Beach and the great work they do. We’re proud to have helped remove a substantial amount of litter and look forward to future events.’
