Orthex Group is a leading Nordic producer of consumer household products and has championed sustainability for many years now, particularly through its GastroMax brand and the Bio range of sustainable chopping boards and kitchenware.
The latest addition to the Bio range is tableware, made from Brazilian sugarcane which is a renewable source. The carbon footprint of the range is reduced by over 80% compared to conventional plastic, as the CO2 generated in production is largely compensated for by the CO2 absorbed during the sugarcane’s growth.
The launch of the GastroMax Bio tableware range comes at a time when there is huge demand for reusable tableware. Since July 2021, the European Union has banned single-use plastic products such as disposable plates and cutlery in an effort to reduce plastic waste in our oceans.
All GastroMax tableware products are designed for long-term use and made from recyclable material to provide a sustainable alternative for single-use plastic. They are made in Finland and can be recycled in the same way as conventional hard plastics.
GastroMax Bio tableware will be on show at Exclusively Housewares and as an acknowledgement of the range’s eco credentials, it has been chosen by Scarlet Opus to feature in the Trend Showcase.
Craig Sammells, Country Manager UK & Ireland, Orthex Group said it was a fantastic accolade to have GastroMax Bio chosen for the second year running in the Trend Showcase. “Sustainability is a thread running through everything we do at Orthex,” said Craig, “and we have been extremely keen to expand the Bio range in the UK. We feel there is a real demand for quality renewable product and we are looking forward to meeting buyers at the show to discuss the opportunities Bio represents for them!”
The GastroMax Bio tableware range comprises different sizes of plates, bowls, cups & mugs plus a tumbler and pitcher.
