Optimism grows amongst mail order businesses

Mail order business is better than it was this time last year, and operators are confident that it is set to improve still further.

Optimism grows amongst mail order businesses

The findings come from transactional database specialist Abacus, which conducted an online survey in May issued to all members of the Abacus Alliance. Responses came from over 30 members representing eight major home shopping categories, including home interiors.

Sixty per cent of respondents said business was better than this time last year, 30% said it was the same and only 10% said business was worse.

When asked to look ahead to the next three months and specify whether they were less or more optimistic about their company’s business prospects, 27% felt they would be the same, 23% were less optimistic, but 50% replied that they were more optimistic.

Respondents were also asked if they felt that the recent change in government would affect their business, and nearly three-quarters felt it would not. It is worth noting that this survey was conducted prior to the recent budget announcement.
