Non-electric machine makes espresso to go, on the go

Fairfax Coffee in conjunction with Handpresso will be making the UK launch of what they say is the world’s first portable espresso machine, small enough to fit in a handbag.

Non-electric machine makes espresso to go, on the go

The companies claim that the non-electric Handpresso Wild makes premium quality, real espresso anywhere, and so is suitable for taking on holidays or business trips, and for people with limited space.

The product uses ESE (Easy Serving Espresso) pods, a system adopted by many brands such as Illy, Lavazza and Gaggia, and widely available in supermarkets, coffee shops and on the web.

The Handpresso Wild works by manually pumping until the pressure rises to 16 bar. Hot water is then poured into the small water reservoir and a pod inserted, to produce an espresso complete with crema.

There is also a range of outdoor accessories, including vacuum flask, case, unbreakable polycarbonate cups and carrying kit, and for indoor use a tray and cups.

Retail price Handpresso Wild, £79; carrying kit, £19
