Nominations open for bira UK Young Retailer of the Year Awards

The UK Young Retailer of the Year Awards programme, organised by the British Independent Retailers Association (bira), is open for entries.

Bira said: “These prestigious annual awards recognise and reward the next generation of independent retailers who are helping to shape the future of the high street. The winner is presented with a place at the Oxford Summer School: the gold standard in residential training programmes.

“Recognition is important in retail and there is no greater show of recognition and appreciation than nominating an outstanding member of your team. The nomination alone is a great boost to morale for both your shop and the nominee.”

To nominate a young retailer, email Ian Carr at ian.carr@bira.co.uk or call 0121 446 6688.

The CHA (bira divisional association The Cookshop & Housewares Association) UK Young Retailer of the Year and overall winner for 2013 is Martha Ferguson, owner and director of Papylon kitchenware store at Winchmore Hill in North London. She said: “Winning the CHA Young Retailer of the Year is probably the most important award to date because while Papylon has won other awards, this is just for me.”
