New director general for BRC

Helen Dickinson has taken over as director general of the British Retail Consortium.

New director general for BRC

With over 20 years’ experience at KPMG as UK head of retail and audit and relationship partner for many retail businesses, she takes over from Stephen Robertson, who left the BRC in December after five years in the role.

Ms Dickinson is a highly-regarded media commentator on developments in the industry. She is a founder member and chair of the KPMG/Ipsos Retail Think Tank which meets quarterly to assess the state of health of the sector through the Retail Health Index, and to consider issues of relevance to retailers.

She said she was “excited and hugely honoured to be leading the BRC into 2013 and beyond. The BRC plays a vital role in supporting retailers to develop their businesses and championing the important contribution the industry makes to the UK economy as well as to the lives of all of us as consumers.

“We’re on the cusp of what is likely to be another challenging year for customers and retailers alike, which makes it more crucial than ever that we can provide voice and leadership to the industry.”
