Six new categories have joined The Giftware Association (GA)’s Gift of the Year 2017 competition.
The additional categories are: Food & Drink, Fairtrade, Craft & Handmade, Fine Jewellery, Nursery and Pet.
They join the existing categories of Kitchen & Dining; Home Accessories; Garden & Outdoor Living; Fashion Jewellery & Accessories; Home Fragrance; Body, Bath & Spa; Kids & Teens; Seasonal; Occasions; Commemorative & Collectable; Hot Novelty; Branded & Character; Made in UK; Cards, Wrap & Stationery; Under £10; and Eco Friendly.
GA chief executive Sarah Ward said: “We must nurture Gift of the Year: it is the GA’s jewel in the crown. We are exploring every possible opportunity to grow the competition while maintaining its quality and integrity. It shows the gift and home industry at its best and provides suppliers with the opportunity to raise their profile and increase revenue and sales.”
Gift of the Year enjoyed a successful launch at Home & Gift last month when scores of companies entered the competition. Tent cards – displayed by exhibitors on their stands to show buyers that their products had been nominated for the contest – proved particularly successful and were a big hit on social media.
Gift of the Year will have a strong presence on stand 5F60 at the Autumn Fair, held from September 4 to September 7 at the NEC in Birmingham. The awards will be presented at Spring Fair 2017 next February.
The GA is working closely with the shows’ organiser i2i Events Group – who are the headline sponsor of the awards – to ensure suppliers throughout the industry are aware of the competition and the opportunities it gives them.
Although plans for the newly-rebranded Gift of the Year stand for Autumn Fair are under wraps, its design will not only focus on the Gift of the Year 2016 winning entries, but serve as a showcase for the 2017 competition.
Members of the GA team will be on the stand to assist exhibitors who wish to enter their new-to-market products for the awards and help visitors with any enquiries about the association.
