Mary Berry soars to top of the book chart

The celebrated cookery book author and star of TV’s The Great British Bake Off, who received a CBE in 2012, is currently presenting her own BBC2 six-part series. Entitled ‘Mary Berry Cooks’, the focus of the show is on home cooking – the area in which Mary excels.

Her book of the same name was released on February 27 and features a collection of 100 new recipes, including Mary’s menus for each episode of the show, from a kitchen supper or a Sunday roast to a summer buffet or afternoon tea.

The Hairy Bikers’ book, entitled ‘Hairy Bikers’ Asian Adventure’ is now in second place. Also a BBC TV tie-in, it follows celebrity chefs Si King and Dave Myers touring Asia to find the best authentic dishes, with recipes from Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand and Korea.

Three other cookbooks appear in the top 10, sourced from Nielsen Bookscan TCM (which collates real time sales from over 6,500 retailers representing over 90% of the UK book market).

‘Save with Jamie’ by Jamie Oliver is in fifth place, with ‘One Pot Collection’ at number nine and ‘East: The Little Book of Fast Food’ by Nigel Slater at number 10.

This list appears in the March 9 issue of ‘The Mail on Sunday’s’ ‘Event’ Magazine.
