A man is recovering in hospital after taking a knife from a supermarket kitchenware section and slashing his throat with it while still in the store.

A man is recovering in hospital after taking a knife from a supermarket kitchenware section and slashing his throat with it while still in the store.
The 28-year-old went into the Tesco Extra store in Fforestfach near Swansea, picked up the knife and then went upstairs. Police were called when the man started acted suspiciously.

Armed officers evacuated shoppers and staff, after which the man slit his own throat. A Taser was reportedly used to prevent him from injuring himself further.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where his condition is said to be improving
