Last chance to attend London show Pulse

London trade show Pulse was ‘buzzing’ on its opening day according to organiser Clarion Events.

The three-day exhibition, which is taking place at Olympia in London, ends today (Tuesday May 17).

Pulse bills itself as ‘the definitive event for inspiring giftware and modern living’. It offers retailers the chance to source thousands of products from over 500 brands, curated by a panel of design and trend experts.

The event also includes a conference programme called ShopTalk, dedicated to supporting retail businesses.Today Pia Benham of Heal’s will be sharing her advice to turn your shop into a destination store. In a presentation entitled ‘Good Design Well Made’, Heal’s head of collections will chat about ‘Heal’s today: what the customer wants and how trends, seasonality and store experience sit within this’.

She will also talk about the young designers and the established ones that partner with the homeware chain, ‘and help it retain its status as a destination store’. Pia manages the buying teams for modern and contemporary design furniture, homeware and textiles, focusing on exclusive design development, seasonal direction and trends.

In addition, there will be a panel session chaired by ‘London Evening Standard’ journalist Katie Law on ‘reinventing retail’ at national museum organisation Imperial War Museum. The theme is ‘how to reinvent your shop to keep your customers coming back’. It will explore how the Imperial War Museum team is ‘a model of how to make museum retail cutting edge and produce a destination shopping experience’.
