Lakeland reveals more about Essex store opening

Lakeland has revealed that its newest branch, at Intu Lakeside in Essex, will open at the end of October.

The housewares chain is set to launch a 5,000sq ft outlet near House of Fraser in the Intu Lakeside shopping centre at West Thurrock Way in Grays. Intu Lakeside, formerly Lakeside Shopping Centre, is a large out-of-town shopping centre.

Lakeland’s marketing director Tony Preedy said: “We’ve had many, many requests from customers to open a store at Intu Lakeside, and we’re delighted that we will finally be able to do so, in time for Christmas.”

Meanwhile, Lakeland’s branch in the north-west city of Chester is relocating.The retailer’s Autumn Kitchen catalogue states that “our Chester store is moving soon; check the website for details”. The shop’s current address is 5 Eastgate Row North.

Lakeland currently operates 65 stores nationwide. Its 61st shop, at thecentre.mk in Milton Keynes, opened in March and was followed in April by two new branches in Scotland: at Dobbies Garden World branches in Edinburgh Melville and Stirling. A shop at Centre Court Shopping Centre in Wimbledon opened at the end of May.
